*Girls on the Moon" Collage work On Scrap

Collage work on a 13" x 10" piece of plywood.

Painted in hues of purple and sapphire. A print of two loving women who feel as though their love sends them to the heavens and they lean on the moon. Somewhat political affirmations decoupaged onto the piece. The piece is protected with two coats of polyurethane.

Textured gesso base painted in midnight blue and deep purple. Vintage lady wonders up at the night owl as she ponders her upcoming night out.

Sweet girl sits in her room gazing out the window. Words are discover defined. As you lift the curtain you discover the same little girl passing by. Stencil worked on pink and purple background, decoupaged "wallpaper" peals away at the corner, black faux suede "curtain".

Framed Women Altered Art Piece

Frame is 6" x 8" Viewing area is 5" x 7"

Reprint and colorization in colored pencils of portrait from the past. The small sticker affixed in the lower right corner reads "family".  Found object faux jewelry adorns the left outside corner.

When doing this piece I imagined the ladies in the photo were in a love affair and I tried to imagine what that would have been like in the past. All the times that ordinary things, like having your family photo taken, could have held deeper meaning for a lesbian couple. I imagined them secretly touching fingertips so that they would always know the feelings in the portrait.
